Applicants can apply to either the festival’s Performance or Workshop Programs:
Performance Program Artists receive:
Lessons with guest composers
Masterclasses with guest composers
Workshops on instrumental techniques with guest performers
Masterclass / Workshops with guest composers
Festival rehearsals and performance of a work on an Etchings Festival concert.
Workshop Artists receive:
Lessons with guest composers
Masterclasses with guest composers
Workshops on instrumental techniques with guest performers
Masterclass / Workshops with guest composers
A recorded reading session of a work-in-progress with guest musicians
All artists are responsible for their own travel and accommodations (Etchings provides optional group-rate hotel packages at local Northampton hotels if participants are interested).
All events will take place at Bombyx and other venues in Northampton and Florence, MA.
Performance Artists Tuition: $1150
Workshop Artists Tuition: $550

Applications will be accepted until April 1st, 11:59EST, 2025.
Notifications of acceptance will be made during the week of April 14th, 2025.
Select on your application form whether you are applying to the festival’s Performance or Workshop program (or if either one would suit you).
In addition to your application form, include the following in your email application:
Short bio or a CV.
Two scores representing your best work for any instrumentation (PDF)
Recordings of these works (optional) (MP3)
In lieu of uploading scores and/or MP3s along with your application, you may provide links to your scores and recordings but these links must remain active until May 17th. Please no links to downloads.
For applications to the performance artists program:
Consider applying with at least one work for the festival’s instrumentation:
Flute (alto/picc), clarinet (bass clarinet), violin, cello, piano, alto saxophone, guitar / electric guitar.Once selected, composers may opt to compose a new work for the festival, have the work they applied with performed, or revise an existing work.
Final deadlines for all works to be programmed this summer is July 1st, 2025
