Natalie Boberg
Violin
Violinist, Natalie Boberg, is a versatile soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. Her playing has been noted by Vijay Gupta of Street Symphony and the LA Philharmonic as, “Beautifully personal, with instincts that are so on.” Natalie made her professional debut with the Utah Symphony in 2018, performing Mark O’Connor’s Double Violin Concerto with Maestro Connor Covington. Natalie has also appeared as a soloist with the Colburn Chamber Orchestra alongside Anne Akiko Meyers, Lake Avenue Chamber Orchestra, and Gifted Music School Chamber Orchestra. She earned first prize in Southern California’s Bach Festival Complete Works Category and first prize in London’s Great Composers Competition Series, Art of Strings Division.
Natalie immerses herself in work with chamber ensembles, most recently as a Faculty Performer at the Etchings Festival, hosted by the Ecce New Music Ensemble. In national chamber music competitions, Natalie placed second with the Annora Quartet of Salt Lake City at University of Michigan’s MPrize Competition, and earned Grand Prize at the Gifted Music School’s Paderewski Festival Chamber Music Division. Natalie has given performances with New England Conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival’s Philharmonic, Opera Orchestra, and Baroque Ensemble, American Youth Symphony, Young Musicians Foundation’s Debut Orchestra, Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artists Orchestra, Interlochen Center for the Arts’ World Youth Symphony Orchestra, Gifted Music School’s Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, and Colburn Youth Orchestra.
Natalie’s breadth of experience in the arts also includes training in conducting, vocal and visual arts, and dance. She studied conducting under Maxim Eshkenazy at the Colburn School and has led ensembles including the Lake Avenue Orchestra and Colburn Youth Orchestra. She performed for nine years in the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus’ Bel Canto choirs under the esteemed baton of Anne Tomlinson. She also trained at San Marino Dance Academy for 10 years and studied classical drawing/painting at Mission Renaissance Fine Art Studio.
Natalie’s summer engagements span the Aspen Music Festival and School, Meadowmount School of Music, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Principal teachers include Eugene Watanabe, Michael T. McLean, Amy Herrick, and Andrea Sanderson. She is currently a candidate for a B.M. degree in Violin Performance at New England Conservatory, studying with Valeria Kuchment of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Natalie currently performs on a 17th century violin made by the Italian master Tommaso Balestrieri.
Natalie’s mission is to share engaging musical experiences and the art of the violin with the world. She is particularly excited about sharing music in innovative ways and collaborating with living composers and artists on new music projects. As a violinist, choral singer, dancer, and artist, she actively envisions unique programming that has wide-appeal and captures a new generation of classical music lovers. Alongside her work on the stage, Natalie maintains a studio of violin students, most recently as a Teaching Artist at the Boston Music Project through a Teaching Fellowship from the New England Conservatory of Music. Natalie is committed to nurturing the growth of new artists and aims to make classical music more accessible by creating inclusive, memorable experiences for all.
